Giant Temples & Stone graves – The Megalithic Malta

About 5200 BC, men coming from the south of Sicily, on boats of which nothing is known yet, disembarked in the Maltese archipelago. They brought with them women and children, the rudiments of their neolithic agriculture and a few domestic animals.
They found high cliffs of golden chalk, pierced by many dry and deep caves, and settled there.
These caverns have served as shelters for centuries, as evidenced by the pottery of all the styles found here. The most famous of these caves is Ghar Dalam in Gozo, probably the first populated island.

About 4,400 BC there are more elaborate constructions : the first villages of huts, then real buildings with brick walls.
The company is structured around 4,100 BC – the era of pioneer farmers ends, the era of temple builders opens.
