Built in 1911, in a forest on the top of a hill with a dreamlike view, the Calendar Castle is not just a legend about a beautiful love story between a baron and a Russian girl, behind it, also the concept that it was built based on the principles of a calendar. It has 365 windows, as much as the days in one year, 4 towers, like the number of seasons, 52 rooms, as much as the weeks in one year, 7 terraces as much as the days in a week and finally, 12 halls, the equivalent of months in one year. The owner of the castle was Baron Istvan, the ambassador of Austria-Hungary to Russia at the time, he asked for the castle to be build, as a testimony of his love for the daughter of Nicholas II. During communism, the castle was taken over by the Romanian state over the time it served many different purposes, TB hospital, a grain deposit, the last time it served as an orphanage, housing 52 girls. Since 2012 it has been deserted, the traces of degradation being more and more visible.
